This is the nasty "F" word and there is no way around it. We have to raise money just like every other activity in the school. However, I do not want you thinking candy sales (Sarris Candy bars sold very well last year), hoagie sales (chorus does this), or anything else involving solely food. Many other activities use food fundraisers and that's fine. We need to think "outside the box." We have to plan events and activities that will allow us to draw crowds. In these events, we have to have other money making ideas, such as a 50/50 raffle, bake sales, concessions, activities for children if it applies, and other ideas. If these events are well planned, they can make us a lot of money. The more money we have, the more we can do at the prom.
Examples of events:
Cinnamon rolls (Hadley Farms)
Applicious
Sarris candy bars
Sporting events (football, basketball, wrestling)
Steeler basketball game (co-sponsored with Student Council)
Fashion Show (we have had six of these in the last seven years)
Cherry Blossom (Smoothies have been extremely popular the three times we have done them, including the previous two years)
Any other ideas you can think of. Do not be shy - voice your opinion!
